About the Hallamshire

Surrounded by trees in the south west of the city, the Hallamshire has been an anchor in the community for 140 years… and counting.

We’re one of Sheffield’s oldest tennis clubs in a beautiful and bustling part of the city. Sitting on the edges of Endcliffe park with the charm of Sharrow Vale and Ecclesall Road on our doorstep, we’ve been a proud part of the neighbourhood for generations.

We’re completely member-led, with a dedicated, voluntary board of directors who listen to members to evolve facilities thoughtfully and strategically. All income is invested back into the club, so we can continue to offer the highest playing and coaching experiences, in a welcoming, social environment.

What began as a tennis club in 1885 has evolved to include squash, racketball, padel and pickleball, with a fully equipped gym and saunas to help relaxation and recovery.

Our clubhouse sits at the core, with a bar, lounge and sun terrace overlooking the courts. Perfect for unwinding after a match, meeting other members, or waiting for your children to finish their lesson.

A community that rallies.

We bring people together on the courts, in our clubhouse and across the sun-soaked terrace with themed tournaments, charity fundraisers, quizzes and socials. See what’s coming up soon.

Visit. Play. Join.

If you’re interested in finding out more and trying our facilities, we’d love to show you around and welcome visitors before they become members, both at dedicated open days and through visitor passes.

And if you decide it’s for you, we have a range of membership options, from tennis or squash and racketball only, to options that include padel, pickleball and gym. You can pay for 12 months up front, or on a monthly rolling basis.
